Say It Ain't So...

Another six weeks of winter? Blah...

They pulled Punxsutawney Phil out of his hole today, and the old stinker saw his shadow!

Did you know that since 1887 Phil has seen his shadow 97 times, not including the nine years they don't have records for? Is it time to give the job to some animal that casts less shadows? Doesn't it just seem likely that ol' Punxsutawney likes winter and that's why he has had so many years calling for another six weeks of it? Honestly, why wouldn't a hibernating animal want six more weeks of sleep anyhow?

Personally, I don't get the whole shadow thing anyhow. If Phil sees his shadow, doesn't that mean it's sunny out? Shouldn't that mean sunnier days are closer? Seems to me that no shadow would spell more winter gloom. It occurs to me that nobody has bothered to ask my opinion anyhow...
